The Ordering Process:
1. You decide what you need for tech wood for your school - ordering for the entire year is advised.
2. You run it by your school admin. - you can use the prices above to estimate the cost of your order.
3. You fill out the STEM Tech Wood Order Form - this places your order.
4. We create and print you out an invoice and package your order. We will then send you an email that includes the invoice to let you know that your order is ready - keep an eye in your junk email folder in case it goes there.
5. If you have opted for delivery ($25. local in Guelph) - we deliver your product and invoice and you have 30 days to pay.
If you want to arrange pick-up - you can see the monthly pick-up times on our website.
6. After you receive your order - UGDSB Teachers - your school will decide to pay in one of two ways - your office staff will decide what is best - they may create a cheque at the school and mail it to us, or they may forward the invoice to the board office with payment information from the school as to what account the payment is being transferred from - we have an EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) with UGDSB, so they essentially e-transfer the payment to us and send email notification.
Waterloo RDSB Teachers - your schools will either create a cheque or transfer the payment electronically.
Wellington CDSB Teachers - your schools will either create a cheque or transfer the payment electronically.

Are you wondering what makes STEMTechWood better than the competition?
-we are family owned and operated
-we source our materials locally - within Waterloo & Wellington Counties
-we offer pieces 100cm long
(We have the mill cut at 41 inches which comes out to 104cm - this gives you an extra 400cm per bundle to compensate for any small defects)
-our prices are locked in from 2022 - about 13% below the competition
-we currently are not required to charge 13% HST as we are a 'small supplier'
-some find it convenient to pick up locally
-we finish our lumber with a tumbler - you can feel the difference - so smooth - and no slivers!
-we offer seconds at a discount that are perfect for 'tool training' - visit our facility for more details
-we are virtually waste free and the local cows enjoy our wood shavings for bedding
-we are able to have your order ready in a very short time if needed
We stand behind our product - just let us know if there's a problem and we will make it right!
Why use Basswood?
Basswood is a highly desirable species for wood carvers and wood working for several reasons - it is a deciduous tree that is not very dense - this makes it easy to work with - it does not possess some of the gum associated with softwood coniferous trees (evergreens like Pine) - it has no deterring dust issues (like Cedar).

Why 10mm x 10mm for Intermediate Students?
Some people ask us why we manufacture the size of wood that we do. Secondary Schools in Ontario have much larger equipment than Elementary Schools, and can work with industry standard sizes from your local lumber store like a 2"x4". Elementary Schools that have grades 7 and 8 prefer our sizes to match with their tools - both power tools (e.g., scroll saw) and hand tools (e.g., mini hacksaw, dovetail saw, Kidder Cutters) that are matched for our product. Junior grades can easily use these hand tools to cut our techwood. Primary grades would be more likely to prefer tradition primary aged materials such as popsicle sticks, etc.
We have worked with over 50 schools in UGDSB, WRDSB and WCDSB from March 2023 - November 2025 and growing!
Thank-you for your support!!!
We will be inviting people to pick up their orders in Guelph if they would like to see our operation in person. If you would rather have your product delivered, we will be coordinating delivery in Waterloo and Wellington County / Peel for a reasonable fee.
